I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Nancy for a number of years, mainly as an instructor in spin or body pump classes. Nancy has to be one of the most positive, enthusiastic people I know and whilst making things ‘fun’ in class, I’ve always known how seriously she takes health, fitness and nutrition.
My journey with Nancy started in spring 2018. It sounds very cliché but having reached my early 40’s I really struggled to keep my weight under control (I suspect wine and nibbles are major culprits!). It had become so much harder to not only loose the weight, but to keep myself motivated to want to do it, without the same excuse of “I’ll start again on Monday”!
The defining moment came for me when I noticed how amazing a friend of mine was looking at the gym – slimmer, healthier, glowing! I wanted to know her secret – and it transpires that was Nancy!! They had been working together on her nutrition programme for around 8 weeks and the transformation was amazing! So, I had to give it a go!
From the start, Nancy embraced everything – my weight worries, my bad habits, being stuck in a rut with my gym routine. Most importantly, Nancy understood what I wanted to achieve and made that feel possible!
Before we started the programme, Nancy was very thorough with my medical history, eating and drinking habits, family set up (it’s so important to make meals and planning work for the whole family) and my key body and fitness goals.
The hardest part for me came at the beginning, having to do my weight and body measurements – were my stomach and hips really that big?! The most amazing thing was Nancy didn’t make me feel fat, or old, or a lost cause, instead her mantra was – this is the starting point and things are only going to get better from here. Go Nancy!
So, armed with lots of delicious and nutritional meal ideas from Nancy and a list of do and don’t foods, I started my lifestyle change journey. What surprised me most was how much flexibility there was with what to eat, and the fact you never need to feel hungry. Yes, I had to cut right back on the naughty things – wine, crisps, chocolate – but with Nancy’s constant support and words of encouragement I got through each week and managed to stay on track. There were many times when I was unsure of what to eat, how to handle a social situation and Nancy was always just moments away by text, or phone, with oodles of suggestions and positivity. Nancy also provided an upper body workout for me to do in addition to my normal gym workout, to keep things interesting and make sure I stayed motivated!
As the weeks went by I could see the weekly body measurements reducing, and the most amazing moment was putting on a pair of jeans which had been too tight, and now fitted (without any muffin top!). At the end of the programme I’d lost 4.5kg in weight, 6cm off my hips, 5 cm from the waist, 4cm off my thighs and 3cm from my chest!
I would thoroughly recommend Nancy’s nutrition programme to anyone, no matter how old you are or what your weight or body goals are. Nancy, true to her word, has proved that anything is possible (oh, and she really is one of the loveliest people on the planet!). Thank you Nancy 😊
